Behind the Scenes Saturday: Meal Marathon 2025
This weekend, I’m stepping away from my desk and into the heart of something powerful—our church’s annual Meal Marathon. It’s one of those events that reminds me why community matters and how small acts, multiplied, can change lives.
We partner with a local organization to pack thousands of shelf-stable meals for people facing food insecurity. In the past, these meals were shipped overseas to communities in crisis. But this year, the mission hits closer to home.
Texas is now ranked #1 in the nation for food insecurity.
And here in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, the need is staggering. Families, children, seniors—so many don’t know where their next meal will come from. So this year, every single meal we pack will stay right here in the DFW area.
It’s humbling. It’s holy.
And it’s a reminder that serving starts where you stand.

As I watch hundreds of servants scoop macaroni, seal bags, and pray over each box, I’m reminded that nourishment isn’t just physical—it’s spiritual. Every meal is a message: You are seen. You are loved. You are not forgotten.
If you’ve ever wondered how you can make a difference, start with what’s in your hands. Whether it’s time, talent, or a heart willing to show up—God can use you.
How do you serve others? How have others served you? Kindness is contagious, and I would love to hear all your stories. Tell me in the comments!
